organic sound

often music videos open with organic sound in their intro to set the mood for the rest of the video and introduce the audience to the surroundings of the protagonist.

- in this clip the protagonist sells his music as if it were a illegal substance.

- this relates to my concept as my protagonist will be preforming a type of fraud.

B-roll

b-roll is commonly used across multiple music video genres for example EDM music, The video above, from Martin Garrix’s song “Sadko - Forever” B-roll is used To create a more casual viewing experience, however for many other genres b-roll is used as filler footage to make sure that the video flows smoothly and has more footage then just the narrative.

- this relates to my video because my genre is a crossover between edm, pop and, hip hop

Editing

Many music videos share many characteristics of editing as there are many common message to help hardest emphasise their lyrics and help the narrative flow smoothly techniques include:

Jump cutting includes many shots often close-ups to transition from one scene to the next or emphasised a action or lyric in the song

Sound editing is usually paired with Jump cutting This is when the cuts of the shots match the beat of the song (usually) example of this is Starboy ( video above)

Mis en scene

Mis en scene is used to convey different messages and represent different characters in different ways via using props lighting and colour in music videos missing Mis en scene is usually built up of similar tones to put Focus on the main character of that specific frame.

Symbolic techniques

Symbolic techniques are common across music videos because they are ways of showing meanings beyond what you can read or hear this includes things such as;

- Poses

- Gestures

- facial expressions

- certain props

- this is relevant to my video as i intend to use props to deliver final message being : don't gamble/cheat.
