Billie Eilish - NDA (Official Music Video)

  • Starts off with a medium-long shot creating a sense of mystery and intrigue

  • Flashes closer and further creating a horror type of setting

  • People dressed in black behind her elaborate on the horror theme, thus creating tension and excitement in the audience via a false sense of fear.

  • The cars driving by on the drop lights up the music set creating a more exciting action-styled shot rather than the previous more “creepy” shots. This makes for a more engaging and intense weaving experience

  • The second time the cars pass by the previous effects are amplified and creates a sense of suspense and coordinates well with the sense of destressing presented in Billie Eilish's song

  • The remote desert road, that the shoot was set in was a great background due to how interactive it was for the audience as the constant movement of things such as cars made the single angled shot into a performance-based music video that didn't need many cuts and different angles making it a more unique viewing experience

  • Audiences would enjoy this due to the constant change in the background and the artistic take on a music video as this one deviates from most conventions due to the lack of different angles and the small amounts of different types of shots that were literally mostly a single shot with small glimpses of overlapping faces between and this single shot went from long shot to medium shot and back until the end where the camera was purposefully being shaken and generally unstable to create a sense of instability, all the reasons above making it an enjoyable and dynamic viewing experience.

NF - When I Grow Up

  • The music video starts With children explaining their hopes and aspirations to the camera this is significant because audiences are not expecting this, as they have expected to see a hip hop video Rather than children This makes an engaging beginning to the music video.

  • NF much like the children explained his dreams and aspirations However Via rap This has a good contract To the beginning of the music video.

  • The fact that nf Is talking about millions while taking out other people's trash to the garbage truck is a contradiction in this engaging their audience and for some this can be relatable this allowing audiences to relate to the text and enjoy the music video they are watching.

  • One NF progresses to be a janitor this allows the audience to understand that he wants to come across as a working man from a working-class this allows a large proportion of his audience to identify with NF this being an incentive for more people to watch the video

  • the grey tones in the music video create a sad environment illustrating how NF feels while rapping the song And can resonate with nf’s song

  • The action shots of him doing manual labor Create a realistic view of him actually taking out trash And cleaning as a janitor The cuts coordinated with the music create a dramatic and dynamic viewing experience making it more engaging and an active viewing experience allowing the music video to be seen over and over again by its audience

  • the fact that n f does lower-income jobs can represent the hard routes that he had to take in order to achieve his dream of being a rapper this inspiring many along with the title: when I grow up this means that the music video is supposed to be relatable which it does achieve, with the use of what seems to be a cheap burger joint allowing fast-food employees to relate to this music video as well as janitors as well as garbage men

  • Towards the end, he does achieve his dream on a very small scale followed by achieving his dream fully this illustrates that people should focus on their dream specifically rather than doing side jobs motivating many to follow their dreams end using this video as a motivational guide through their Journey.

Khalid - Better (Official Video)

  • The opening Establishing, Extreme Longshot allows audiences to understand where this music video is filmed ( in LA)

  • The second shot allows audiences to be acquainted with the setting where the majority of the music video is going to be Filmed, this is significant to audiences because it allows them time to familiarise themselves with the surrounding before being tossed into the action of the music video.

  • Following the intro, there's a clip of the woman walking away this gives an insight to the audience what the song is about and gives a general theme for the song of a girl leaving him behind allowing the audience the synthesised with Khalid's sad and anxious/like lyrics

  • The blue tone of the parking lot set the mood for the beginning of the music video as a sad love song.

  • The close-ups of Khalid allow the audience to be introduced and sympathize with him even further bold up

  • The transition from the blue sidelight to the red light changes the mood of the video significantly as it changes the song from a sad two more uplifting end relaxing tune to listen to rather than if the sad song and allowing the audience to enjoy the song rather than the song and the video bring out the sand in them what.

  • The dynamic lights as Khalid is on the hood of the BMW creates a sense of the BMW driving through an urban setting this creating an image for the audience of relaxation and familiarity.

  • The urban setting of The chute creates a tone of familiarity for many people and this lets many people identify with this music video end the location of it as a place of gathering for some convenience for others but overall a place of familiarity.

  • His outfit is so colorful in the orange light and so blend in the blue lighting reflects the effect of his songs on the audience and how the mood switches throughout the music video

  • The multiple cars entering the music video create a sense of Chaos end kalid's calmness completely contradicts that creating a sense of Recklessness and risk that could be interpreted as a metaphor for life as the cars are completely out of Khalid's control The same as life is for most humans hence most of his audience.

  • When Khalid finally does get into a car it sends the message that he has finally gotten his life under control at least emotionally and thus creating a sense of calmness and closure for the audience, ending the music video on a positive note.

This analysis has given me an insight that the most important part of the music video is the beginning and the contrast to its end along with a few major occasions that happened along the way and that is a significant part of the music video is b roll and where the audience is allowed to focus on the background rather than the main performance
